Highlights – Proper soldier beer, excellent with fresh momos
Brewed in the tough north western town of Gorkha, home to the infamous Gurkha army, this beer prides itself on its soldiers brave reputation and is thought of as the best in Nepal. With good reason too, Gorkha is light but carries a good punch, is sweet yet bitter, there’s no better way to end a day in the Nepali sun than with an ice cold Gorkha and a plate of Buffalo momos – a combination so good it rivals a pint of TT Landlord and bag of pork scratchings. The Gurkha motto is ‘It is better to die than be a coward’ and although i don’t want to die yet in case there is a 5 pint award out there, I’m going to have to be a coward on this one and award a 4.5 but,it must be noted that this is my favourite lager to date on this trip.
